I enjoyed the event. I got personal instruction. The park was beautiful and quiet I left feeling more inspired than I had hoped.

While still being new to soft pastels, I find myself wanting to explore light and color. This piece was a nice change of pace for me as I had been using a more muted palette.

This painting, titled The Path of Life, is inspired by my love of the outdoors and the Appalachian mountain region. I love the use of colour to create a soft, misty, dreamy, atmospheric feel with soft pastels, and the use of imagination to create my artwork.

I am inspired by the love of nature and the love of flowers. I am inspired when outdoors taking nature walks or on vacation. I also am inspired by my love of photography and use them to collectively take my artistic inspiration from them which inspires me to create my artwork.

This is a 16 x 20 image of my granddaughters using soft pastels on sanded pastel paper. I call it Sister Love. They may fight like cats and dogs when they are awake, but they also have many moments of tenderness.

Title or Location: Memories of Bassano Del Grappa
A beautiful town in northern Italy - a town who protected partisans during WW2 and suffered the loss of all men and boys as retribution. Today it still bears the marks of war on the walls of the town, with the wooden bridge having been rebuilt a number of times due to war. This mosaic commission was created for a much happier reason, to commemorate a long held friendship between two families, here in Australia and there in Italy. Entirely created with hand cut pieces of glass.

The combination of birds and flowers are dedicated to the two women who were and always will be my heroes. My artist mother who left this earth when I was seven months old and the grandmother who sacrificed her time and energy to raise a very precocious little girl after having raised nine children of her own. For me birds symbolize heavens messengers and flowers symbolize heavens artwork. My grandmother loved birds and raised them with as much care as she raised and loved me. This 9X12

The owner told me that she wanted something fun, relaxing, and beautiful to adorn her shed. She pointed out the she especially hated the electric meter. About 1/2 way across painting on the shed, she came out with ice tea and asked if I could also include the Blue Ridge Mountains. So, I made the building end (made a corner) and then added some blue ridge mountains off in the background. Finished product has feelings of Greece with Blue Ridge mountains, making it a true fantasy piece!
